On September 12, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held an important telephone conversation with the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. During the conversation, topical issues of further strengthening and developing the strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries were discussed in detail.
At the beginning of the conversation, the head of state strongly condemned the recent Israeli missile strikes on Doha, the capital of Qatar. Such actions were assessed as actions that threaten Qatar's independence and sovereignty and violate security. At the same time, it was emphasized that these actions contradict the norms of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
The head of Uzbekistan noted that he opposes any manifestations of the use of force in international relations and emphasized the importance of preventing further escalation of the situation in the Middle East. In this regard, President Mirziyoyev wished for the fruitful and productive holding of the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit, convened at the initiative of Qatar.
The Emir of Qatar expressed deep gratitude for the unity, support, and diplomatic cooperation.
During the conversation, issues of continuing an active political dialogue between the two countries, developing joint investment and cooperation projects between leading companies were also widely discussed. It was noted that cooperation in this area is of great economic and political importance for both sides.
The leaders of Uzbekistan and Qatar confirmed their readiness to develop mutual dialogue and strengthen cooperation in ensuring regional security.
