Uzbekistan ranked 79th in the Global Innovation Index.

In the 2025 Global Innovation Index, prepared and published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Uzbekistan ranked 79th among 139 countries. This result once again confirms the significant growth and development trends of the country's research and innovation potential.

For information, the Global Innovation Index is published annually in September and is prepared on the basis of about 80 indicators combined in 2 main sub-indices and 7 areas. These indicators are the main criteria for determining the innovative potential of countries, the development of knowledge and technology, the business environment, and the quality of management.

Uzbekistan entered this index for the first time in 2015 and ranked 122nd out of 141 countries. In recent years, the country's innovation potential has grown significantly, and in 2024, it ranked 83rd among 132 countries.

According to the results of the 2025 report, Uzbekistan ranked 69th in the "Innovation input" (investment and resources) subindex and 92nd in the "Innovation output" (effectiveness and efficiency) subindex. Of the 78 assessed indicators, 36 showed positive growth, while 7 remained unchanged.

In terms of directions, Uzbekistan achieved the following results:

"Human Capital and Scientific Research" - +12 places,

"Infrastructure" - +1 place,

"Market Development" - +4th place,

"Knowledge and Technology Products" - +10th place, positive changes were observed.

Including:

"Business Development" - 4th place,

"Creative products" - 1 place, a decrease was noted,

"Quality of management institutions" - remained unchanged.

In terms of income level, Uzbekistan ranked 7th among 37 countries in the group of low-middle-income countries, rising from 10th place in 2024. In the Central and South Asian region, it ranked 3rd after India and Iran (4th place in 2024).
