In Tashkent, strict measures are being taken against passengers who travel on public transport without paying the fare. According to the Ministry of Transport, since the beginning of the year more than 6,000 violators have been held accountable in the capital.
Official figures show that inspectors from the Transport Control Inspection and the Tashkent City Public Transport Monitoring and Control Institution regularly conduct checks on buses. During these raids, it was recorded that 6,182 individuals were caught traveling without paying and were subjected to administrative penalties.
According to Article 144 of the Administrative Liability Code, traveling without a ticket on city and suburban buses results in a fine equal to one-tenth of the base calculation value.
Officials emphasized that the main purpose of these raids is to ensure that citizens comply with the law and to maintain fairness within the public transport system. Paying the fare is important not only for the sustainability of the system but also for improving the quality of services.
Statistics show that in January of this year, 15.2 million payments were made through ATTO transport and virtual cards. Of these, 11.7 million were in buses and 3.5 million in the metro. As a result, passengers saved approximately 3.2 billion soums through tariffs during that month.
Experts believe that fare evasion is not only a violation of the law but also harms the entire public transport system. Therefore, citizens are strongly advised to follow the rules, use electronic cards, and make timely payments.
