Strict control will be established over the conduct of weddings and ceremonies in Uzbekistan.

Strict control will be established over the conduct of weddings and ceremonies in Uzbekistan.

A comprehensive approach has been announced, according to which strict control over the procedure for holding weddings and ceremonies in the country will be established. A clear norm has been established that no more than 200 guests can attend family events and no more than 250 guests can attend pilaf ceremonies. This rule applies equally to everyone, and control bodies constantly monitor its practical implementation.

Within the framework of designating 2026-2030 as the "Current period of food security," the "Rational Consumption" (Save Food) program is being implemented. This initiative will help stop excessive waste, achieve significant savings in economic management, and limit unnecessary expenses during celebrations. Based on this, Resolution No. 589 of September 16, 2025, detailed the relevant procedures.

In accordance with the resolution, weddings, family celebrations, funerals, and other ceremonies will be held strictly in accordance with the requirements of the joint resolution adopted in 2019. In particular, it is clearly established that up to 200 guests will participate in family events, and up to 250 people will participate in pilaf ceremonies. It is specifically noted that more than 250 guests are not allowed at double weddings.

At the same time, certain ceremonies and shows that are alien to our national values and lead to excessive pomp will be strictly limited. For example, ceremonies such as "kuyov navkari," "chorlar," "ota ko'rdi," "sep yoydi," "kuda chaqirdi," as well as additional customs such as "yetti," "qirq," "yil oshi" in mourning events will be stopped. This situation is aimed at preserving the essence of celebrations, eliminating excessive luxury, and spending appropriately.

The essence of the program is that each event is organized based on measurements and standards. By limiting the number of guests, rationally determining the quantity of meals, and aligning services with a cost-effective plan, funds are saved. This, in turn, increases social responsibility, reduces waste, and eases the financial burden on families.

The Presidential Decree of April 2025 sets the task of developing mechanisms for further improvement of these procedures. In August, a draft joint resolution of the councils of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis will be prepared, which will also provide for new rules that will contribute to the formation of a culture of thrift and rational consumption among young people. If these documents are implemented in practice, the issues of moderation, balance in expenditure, and spiritual education will be further strengthened.
