New rules are being introduced for moped and scooter drivers in Uzbekistan. Starting from October 1, 2025, it will be mandatory to have a driver’s license and a state registration plate to operate such vehicles. It is noted that these requirements are aimed at ensuring road safety.
Which category of license is required?
Currently, in Uzbekistan, riding a scooter generally requires an A1 category license. This category allows operating motorcycles and mopeds with an engine capacity of up to 50 cm³. If the engine capacity is larger than 50 cm³, then a category A license is required.
Training courses and study duration
To obtain a category A license, special driving school courses are organized. The training usually lasts 2–3 months. The program includes theoretical lessons (traffic rules, safety techniques) and practical training (riding a scooter).
Cost and fees
The cost of obtaining a driver’s license varies depending on the training center and region. On average, the price for an A category license for riding a scooter is around 2.5 – 4 million UZS. Some centers may also offer additional lessons before the exam for an extra fee.
List of documents
To apply for a license, applicants must submit:
Identity document (passport)
Medical certificate
Application form (provided by the training center)
Payment receipt for the course
After successfully passing all exams, the driving school submits the documents to the traffic police, or the process can be completed through the Unified Interactive Government Services Portal.
Scooters and job opportunities
Riding a scooter is not only a means of personal transportation but also a source of additional income. Today, courier services are in high demand, and many young people and students find jobs using scooters.
Restaurants, online stores, and delivery services regularly hire scooter drivers. This provides a unique opportunity for freedom and flexible work.
Conclusion
Obtaining a license for riding a scooter is not only a legal requirement but also a step toward personal safety and future job opportunities. Therefore, it is in everyone’s best interest to take this matter seriously.
