A meeting was held at the National Agency for Perspective Projects with representatives of Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads).
During the discussion, the prospects for opening a Meta representative office in Uzbekistan, the development of cooperation to prevent fraud in promoting advertising and placement on company platforms, as well as issues of content monetization and support for digital content creators in the country were discussed.
Among Meta representatives at the meeting were Sarim Aziz, Politics Director for South and Central Asia, Senura Abeivardena, Politics Director for Central Asia, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives, Aurora Lee, Government Relations and Social Initiatives Director for Central Asia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, and Yerasil Kalihan, Regional Politics Manager for Central Asia and Mongolia.
The parties noted the importance of establishing a direct dialogue and exchanging experience on regulating digital platforms, protecting users, and developing a fair monetization system. Special attention was paid to issues of digital security, transparency of advertising, and promotion of responsible digital behavior.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue mutual cooperation and explore specific areas of cooperation.
