Mirziyoyev left for Tajikistan: important summit and meetings expected

Another important political chapter is opening in relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay a working visit to Tajikistan on October 9–10. This was reported by the press service of the head of state.

President Mirziyoyev is making this visit at the invitation of the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon. During the trip, he will take part in the “Central Asia – Russia” summit and the next meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, which will be held in Dushanbe.

The agenda of the upcoming events is quite extensive, and it will include discussions on expanding multifaceted cooperation between neighboring countries. Special attention will be paid to strengthening political dialogue, implementing joint projects in trade, economic and investment spheres, and expanding cooperation in priority areas such as transport, energy, and agriculture.

In addition, the agenda includes strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties, as well as exchanging experience in science and education. The presidents will also exchange views on current international and regional security issues.

At the end of the summits, several joint documents and decisions aimed at further developing practical cooperation are expected to be signed.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev last visited Tajikistan on March 31 of this year with a working visit to the city of Khujand. At that time, he was personally welcomed by President Emomali Rahmon. This visit was of historical importance, marking a new stage in relations between the two countries.

During those negotiations, the Treaty on Allied Relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan officially entered into force. This document became an important step, bringing the two countries closer not only politically but also economically and culturally.

At that same meeting, historic trilateral negotiations were held between Mirziyoyev, Rahmon, and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov. The agreement on the junction point of the state borders of the three countries was signed, and the “Friendship Stele” was solemnly unveiled. This event was regarded as the beginning of a new stage of unity and mutual trust in Central Asia.

Emomali Rahmon stated at the time that “the agreement on the junction point of the borders of the three states is an important event on the path to regional stability.” President Mirziyoyev sincerely congratulated the leaders of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan on the complete resolution of all disputed issues and the strengthening of friendly ties.

Today, political dialogue in this direction is reaching a new level. The summits in Dushanbe are expected to determine not only economic but also strategic directions for future cooperation.

Thus, President Mirziyoyev’s working visit to Tajikistan is significant not only for its official agenda but also as an important step toward strengthening stability and alliance in Central Asia.
