The number of foreigners visiting Uzbekistan for business has sharply increased

Uzbekistan recorded a new indicator in January–August 2025 for the number of foreign visitors coming for business and commercial purposes. According to the National Statistics Committee, a total of 287.7 thousand foreign citizens visited the country during this period.

This figure is 190.3 thousand more than in the same period last year, showing almost a threefold growth. Officials note that such an increase is linked to the country’s improved investment climate, transport convenience, and favorable conditions for business.

Most visitors came from Afghanistan — 267,879 people. In addition, 14,648 came from Tajikistan, 2,235 from Turkmenistan, 585 from Russia, 392 from Turkey, and 373 from Kazakhstan.

The number of visitors from other countries reached 1,635. Experts believe that the strengthening of economic relations with Afghanistan and active cross-border trade have been decisive factors in this growth.

Moreover, the simplified visa system, tax incentives, and the growing number of free economic zones have boosted foreign interest.

According to economic analysts, the rise in foreign business delegations will enhance the country’s investment potential and help create new jobs.

At the same time, increased activity is expected in the tourism and service sectors. Experts suggest that the business tourism sector in Uzbekistan may expand further next year — marking an important step toward turning the country into a regional trade hub.
