A New Historic Stage with Europe: Shavkat Mirziyoyev Heads to Brussels

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay an official visit to Brussels on October 24, 2025. During the visit, it is expected that Uzbekistan and the European Union will sign the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA). This was reported by Euronews.

The agreement aims to elevate cooperation in politics, trade, and security to a new level, strengthen bilateral relations, and support reforms and sustainable development.

According to available information, the agreement reaffirms both sides’ commitment to continuing reforms, modernizing the economy, and deepening global cooperation. It also lays the groundwork for upcoming initiatives such as the “EU–Central Asia” Investment Forum to be held in Tashkent this November.

The EPCA is expected to serve as a modern legal foundation for further development of relations between the EU and Uzbekistan. It will expand cooperation in areas such as trade, economy, science, education, environment, and innovation.

According to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the new agreement replaces the 1996 Partnership and Cooperation Agreement and reflects the country’s progress in political, economic, and institutional spheres. “This document demonstrates how far our country has advanced in recent years,” the ministry stated.

Experts note that the agreement will not only bring relations with Europe to a qualitatively new level but also enhance Uzbekistan’s standing in the international arena. The signing in Brussels marks an important step toward deeper integration into the global economy.

The new agreement is not merely a political gesture — it confirms Uzbekistan’s firm commitment to reform, openness, and sustainable development.
