A system for restricting the movement of trucks will be introduced in Tashkent

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was presented with a new project for the construction of special bus stations and parking lots for trucks in the capital and its surrounding areas.

According to the project, the new facilities will be built near the road patrol posts "Erkin," "Sharq," "Bektemir," "Uch Kahramon," and "Turbanov." Recreation areas, campsites, and service areas for drivers are also planned here.

According to the data, 7.7 hectares, 4.25 hectares, and 8 hectares of land will be allocated for some facilities. Among them, the "Erkin" checkpoint in the Sergeli district is indicated as the busiest point - about 40-50 thousand vehicles enter and exit through it daily.

Minister of Internal Affairs Aziz Tashpulatov announced on the program "Menimcha" on the TV channel "Uzbekistan 24" that the movement of trucks in the capital will be restricted at certain times.

"There is a plan to temporarily restrict the movement of trucks in Tashkent during peak hours. We will introduce restrictions in the mornings. In addition to buses, recreation areas will also be built for trucks. For example, if a truck arriving from Samarkand arrives in Tashkent at 8:00, it can wait several hours in a special parking lot and then enter the city. This will make it easier to regulate movement during peak hours," the minister said.

Earlier, the khokim of Tashkent, Shavkat Umurzakov, noted that more than 400 thousand cars enter the capital every day, and this situation causes serious problems in the traffic system.

The first deputy mayor of the city, Bakhtiyor Khaydarov, said that it is planned to reduce traffic jams by moving entry and exit posts and new road solutions.

According to the new project, bus stations, campsites, and separate parking areas for cars and trucks will be built outside the city. The issue of allocating funds has been resolved, design work is planned to begin in 2025, and construction - at the beginning of next year.

According to experts, this system will significantly reduce traffic congestion in Tashkent and play an important role in regulating traffic flow.
