A modern medical cluster will be created in Tashkent in cooperation with the Republic of Korea, the Ministry of Health reported.
The project will be implemented with the participation of the Export-Import Bank of Korea and the Economic Development and Cooperation Fund (EDCF). An agreement was signed between the head of the Keryong consortium, which was selected as the main contractor for the construction of a multidisciplinary medical center for adults, and the Minister of Health. With this, the project officially began.
The total cost of construction is 149.8 million US dollars. Of these, 124 million will be financed through EDCF loan funds through the Export-Import Bank of Korea, and the remaining 25.8 million will be financed as Uzbekistan's contribution.
The new hospital will be built in accordance with world standards, in the form of a modern medical center of the IV level. It will have a capacity of 300 beds and will create new jobs for more than 700 doctors and medical workers.
Within the framework of the project, 130 Uzbek specialists will be sent to Korea for advanced training. At the same time, 32 highly qualified Korean doctors will come to our country and teach their best practices.
After the launch of the new center, more than 8.5 thousand high-tech operations will be performed annually - cardiovascular, transplantology, neurosurgery, rehabilitation, as well as spinal and joint surgeries.
According to experts, this project will become a new stage not only for Tashkent, but also for the entire medical system of the country. This will expand the possibilities of providing the population with highly qualified, modern medical services.
For information, in 2020, the National Children's Medical Center, the only one in Central Asia, was commissioned in Tashkent with the participation of EDCF. The new adult clinic will become the next stage of international cooperation in this area.
