6.0 magnitude earthquake in Afghanistan felt in Uzbekistan

On the night of October 21, an earthquake occurred in Afghanistan and was also felt in several regions of Uzbekistan. This was reported by the Republican Center for Seismoprognostic Monitoring.

According to the information, the earthquake was recorded at 23:14 Tashkent time. Its epicenter was located in Badakhshan province, about 556 kilometers southeast of Tashkent. The magnitude of the quake was 6, with a depth of 225 kilometers.

Seismic activity in Uzbekistan was mostly mild. In particular, tremors of around 3 magnitude were recorded in the Surkhandarya region. In the Fergana, Syrdarya, Andijan, Jizzakh, Samarkand, Namangan, and Kashkadarya regions, the strength of the tremors ranged between 2 and 3. In the capital, Tashkent, the tremors reached about 2 magnitude.

So far, there have been no reports of casualties or damage. Specialists note that in recent months, the number of earthquakes has increased in the seismically active northern areas of Afghanistan.

Experts urged citizens to remain calm and follow updates only from official sources.
