In Uzbekistan, the number of births and marriages continues to decline year by year, reported the Statistics Committee.
According to the data, as of October 1, 2025, the country's population reached 38 million 69 thousand people, which is 1.9 percent more compared to the previous year.
However, birth rates have decreased: from January to September, 664.6 thousand children were born, which is about 30 thousand fewer than during the same period last year.
The number of marriages has also dropped to the lowest level in the last 15 years — only 177 thousand marriages were registered in nine months. For comparison: in 2021, the figure was 206.8 thousand, in 2022 — 197 thousand, and in 2023 — 184.5 thousand.
According to statistical data, 19.4 million people live in urban areas, and 18.7 million live in rural areas. The Samarkand and Fergana regions remain the most populous, while the Syrdarya region is the least populated.
Officials noted that the decline in the number of births and marriages may affect the population growth rate. Social and economic factors are cited as the main reasons for this trend.
