Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with Serbian President Vucic

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on October 28. During the meeting, prospects for further strengthening practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Serbia were considered.

Warmly welcoming the leader of Serbia, the head of state noted that the first summit in the period of cooperation will be of historical significance and will bring Uzbek-Serbian relations to a qualitatively new level.

- Your official visit is a historic event in the year of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. In Uzbekistan, Serbia is treated with great goodwill. Our peoples are connected by strong bonds of friendship and a similar mentality," Mirziyoyev said.

During the negotiations, special attention was paid to the issues of increasing trade turnover, preparing a large-scale cooperation program in mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, the chemical industry, information technologies and digitalization, the agro-industrial complex, tourism, and many other important sectors.

The importance of developing new transport corridors along the "Central Asia - the Balkans" route, including within the framework of the Trans-Caspian corridor, was emphasized.

In order to promote the economic agenda of cooperation, an agreement was reached to hold the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission in Tashkent next year.

Issues of cooperation in the field of organized labor migration, cultural, humanitarian, and educational spheres were considered.

The leaders also exchanged views on topical issues of the regional and international agenda.
