
An unprecedented social program to support low-income families ahead of the 2025/2026 heating season has been approved in Uzbekistan. It is planned to allocate 1.2 trillion soums from the state budget for these purposes.
Across the country, 1.1 million families will receive a one-time cash assistance of 1 million soums each. According to the press service of the National Social Protection Agency, the amount of aid has been increased 2.5 times compared to last year.
Last year, assistance of 270 thousand soums each was provided to 120 thousand families. This year, 1.1 million families throughout the republic will receive 1 million soums each in financial assistance during the heating season.
Of these, 822 thousand families have been included in the social register, while more than 290 thousand families were identified through the "Mahalla's Seven" system. Families included in the additional list belong to the following categories: - Families with a person with disabilities living in them – 76.3 thousand; - Families living only on pension income – 69.7 thousand; - Families whose breadwinner is working as a labor migrant – 34.7 thousand; - Families who have lost their breadwinner – 33.8 thousand; - Families with a seriously ill person – 23.7 thousand; - Elderly people living alone – 7 thousand; - Families not connected to the gas network – 2 thousand; - Families with more than three families in one house – 26.2 thousand; - Temporarily unemployed – 15.1 thousand; - Individuals living alone – 2.3 thousand.
The largest share of additional aid will be directed to families raising people with disabilities and pensioners. This comprehensive support program, approved by the head of state, is aimed at alleviating the financial burden of low-income citizens during the cold season and ensuring them adequate living conditions.
