An ancient temple of 1500 years old has been discovered in the Tashkent region

In the territory of the Kanka monument in the Tashkent region, a find of great importance for the history of human civilization was discovered. According to the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, an ancient temple and military equipment dating back to the 5th-8th centuries were found here.

Archaeological research conducted jointly by the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences and the Tashkent Regional Administration is being carried out within the framework of the plan to transform Kanka into an open-air museum. According to experts, Qanqa is an extremely important city monument for the history of Turan, and some researchers associate it with the city of Qangdez, mentioned in the "Avesta" and the city of Alp Er Tunga, the king of Turan, mentioned in the "Shahnameh."

During this year's excavations, a scientific team consisting of employees from the Institute's "Military History Center" and "Ancient World History" departments, while examining the temple cover located in the lower part of the monument's arch, discovered fragments of ancient metal armor. It is said that these items may have been given as gifts to the temple by warriors in ancient times.

"In the society of ancient Turan, temples were not only a religious center, but also an integral part of folk culture. Every person brought their most valuable item, the product of their labor, there as a monument. Similar traditions have also been proven through findings in the Boykend temple," the Academy of Sciences said in a statement.

According to experts, the military equipment found in the Kanka temple demonstrates how advanced the military culture and the art of weapon making of the Turkic peoples were. Horse equipment was also found at the temple entrance during excavations since 2021. This year's discovery of armor once again proves that the Turkic peoples attached great importance to the martial arts and military traditions.

The Kanka monument has not only scientific significance, but also an important place in restoring national pride and historical memory. Archaeologists intend to turn this area into an open museum for tourists in the future.
