Construction of a waste processing plant has begun in the Fergana region. This project is being implemented by China's China Everbright International Ltd.
The foundation laying ceremony for the plant was held on November 2 in Fergana district, near the village of Akbilol. The design capacity of the enterprise will allow processing 1,500 tons of waste per day and generating 227.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity.
This energy will be supplied to the national grid. The $141.5 million project will reduce the burden on local landfill sites, improve energy supply, and create 400 new jobs.
This construction is part of a program to build six waste-to-energy plants approved by the president in March of this year. In addition to Fergana, such complexes will also be built in the regions of Tashkent, Andijan, Namangan, Kashkadarya, and Samarkand.
In addition, in July, the construction of similar plants with the participation of foreign companies began in Andijan and Samarkand.
