The number of medical operations performed with artificial intelligence has reached 43

In recent years, the digital revolution has intensified in Uzbekistan's medicine - doctors are now actively using artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the processes of examining and treating patients. According to the Ministry of Health, the number of types of examinations and treatments using AI across the country has reached 43.

During the past period of this year, 179 new diagnostic and 199 new treatment methods have been introduced in medical institutions. These include minimally invasive liver and kidney transplantation, artificial left ventricular implantation (LVAD) into the heart, bone marrow transplantation, brain implantation in the treatment of epilepsy, and removal of spinal disc hernias.

Currently, 379 types of high-tech operations are performed in regional specialized medical centers. This dramatically reduced the need for patients to travel to centers in Tashkent - if previously 80% of patients had to travel to the capital, now this figure has dropped to 15%.

At the same time, robotic technologies were introduced for the first time in state medical institutions this year. They are effectively used in the surgical, diagnostic, and treatment processes of the Republican Specialized Urological Center and the National Medical Center.

According to the Ministry of Health, in the near future, it is planned to automate the analysis of MRI, CT, and X-ray images using artificial intelligence, conduct surgical operations using virtual simulation methods, and expand the field of hybrid operations.

Significant progress is also being made in the field of scientific research. In particular, a team led by Dildora Muhammadiyeva, a scientist at the Tashkent University of Information Technologies, has created an artificial intelligence program that detects breast cancer in its early stages. This project is being evaluated as a huge scientific step in protecting women's health in the future.

According to medical experts, the introduction of artificial intelligence into practice will not only allow for precise and safe operations, but will also ease the burden on doctors and accelerate the recovery process of patients.
