Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the head of Eximbank discussed new projects in Uzbekistan

On November 6, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as part of his working visit to Washington, held a meeting with the head of the Export-Import Bank of the United States - Eximbank John Jovanovich. This meeting was held with the aim of bringing the economic partnership between the two countries to a new level, the presidential press service reported.

Eximbank is the official export credit agency of the US government. Its main task is to support the international economic activity of American companies through insurance, guarantees, and credit instruments.

During the conversation, the possibilities of implementing large-scale cooperation projects between Uzbekistan and the Eximbank in the fields of energy, essential minerals, transport, agriculture, and information technology were discussed.

Particular attention was paid to the participation of a reputable US financial institution in the modernization of Uzbekistan's fleet, the acquisition and delivery of a new generation of Boeing aircraft. The President noted cooperation in this area as an important factor in the development of the country's transport infrastructure.

At the meeting, both sides expressed interest in developing long-term financial partnership. It was agreed to develop new mechanisms for financing strategically important projects based on a large joint program in the future.

Issues of ensuring the active participation of Eximbank in financing projects in the agricultural and industrial sectors, creating favorable conditions for local producers were also discussed.

Following the meeting, an agreement on financing joint projects was exchanged in the presence of the head of state between the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan and the US Eximbank.

This agreement is expected to open a new page in economic cooperation between the two countries and create broad opportunities for American business to enter the Uzbek market in the future.

According to analysts, this meeting will not only strengthen financial relations between the two countries, but also once again confirm Uzbekistan's openness to US investment.

Within the framework of Shavkat Mirziyoyev's business program in Washington, a number of other strategic meetings are expected, including negotiations with major corporations in the fields of technology, energy, and logistics.
