In order to protect the rights, life, and health of citizens working abroad, the government of Uzbekistan has adopted an important decision. According to the new document, a voluntary insurance system will be introduced for labor migrants. This will increase citizens' security, financial stability, and access to medical care.
The system, developed at the initiative of the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers, provides comprehensive protection for labor migrants. Insurance companies were recommended to create preferential tariffs and special insurance products for migrants.
Based on the new mechanism, it will be possible to insure the life and health of citizens working abroad, compensate for the possibility of refusal of a patent or work permit, as well as insure the risk of non-repayment of loans taken for employment abroad.
At the same time, insurance organizations undertake the obligation to issue a voluntary health insurance policy in the territory of Uzbekistan or to organize emergency medical care through assistance services in the migrant's country.
According to the document, insurance compensation is covered in the currency paid by the citizen. Under long-term life insurance, full coverage is carried out in the event of the death of the insured or the occurrence of disability of groups I-II. If the insured reaches the specified age, they are paid a share of investment income along with the insurance amount.
In addition, if at least 30% of the insurance premium is directed to life insurance and the insurance period is more than 12 months, the transfer costs will also be fully covered.
The Regulation on the procedure for insuring the life, health, and risks of labor migrants is approved as an appendix. Through this document, our compatriots working abroad will be protected from financial and medical risks, and the risks of rejected documents or debt default will be covered through insurance.
The new system will make the process of citizens leaving for work safe and reliable, and will also be an important step in protecting their life and health. Through this, the state not only ensures the rights of migrants, but also creates an environment of financial stability for their families.
