US President Donald Trump made a statement of immense political and economic importance on his official page on Truth Social. In it, Trump announced the largest-scale trade and economic agreement in history between America and Uzbekistan, which will usher in a new era.
The President noted that in the next three years, Uzbekistan will invest and make purchases in the amount of $35 billion in a number of strategic sectors - such as important minerals, aviation, automotive components, infrastructure, agriculture, energy, chemistry, and information technology.
At the same time, it is expected that in the next ten years this figure will exceed 100 billion dollars. Trump described this as an "unprecedented turning point" in relations between the two countries.
"I am pleased to announce the unprecedented trade and economic agreement between the United States of America and Uzbekistan. In the next three years, Uzbekistan will invest and make purchases of about 35 billion dollars in the most important American industries - minerals, aviation, automotive components, infrastructure, agriculture, energy and chemistry, information technology, and others, and in the next ten years - more than 100 billion dollars.
I express my gratitude to the esteemed President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. "We look forward to the long-term and fruitful relations between our countries!" - wrote the US leader.
Trump's statement signifies that relations between Washington and Tashkent are reaching a new level. Although the exact details of the agreement have not yet been disclosed, analysts assess this step as a decision that will bring economic cooperation between the two countries to a qualitatively new level.
In recent years, Uzbekistan has been consistently expanding relations with the USA. After Trump's post, many international publications called it "the strengthening of US influence in Central Asia and the growth of Tashkent's geo-economic influence."
If the agreement is implemented, it will not only dramatically increase trade turnover between America and Uzbekistan, but also create new investment opportunities in the region.
Currently, the relevant ministries and agencies of both countries are discussing technical cooperation on the agreement. But one thing is clear - the political trust and economic closeness between the leaders of the two countries have never been so strong in recent years.
