The Government of Uzbekistan has approved measures aimed at fundamentally reforming the management of street lighting systems in Tashkent city. This decision will serve as a basis for developing and operating a new approach to the city's lighting infrastructure.
The main element of the adopted changes is the implementation of structural transformations. The “Toshshaharnur” State Unitary Enterprise, which has been responsible for city lighting for many years, has been reorganized and granted the status of a state institution directly subordinate to the Tashkent city administration.
This status change signifies not only a shift in governance but also an expansion of functional duties. The newly established structure will assume full responsibility for managing the external lighting system.
This will include not only ongoing operations and maintenance but also the strategic modernization of the system. One of the key directions will be the widespread implementation of an automated system that allows remote management and accurate calculation of electricity consumption, thereby increasing energy efficiency and optimizing costs.
The updated “Toshshaharnur” will also be tasked with installing modern and energy-saving lighting equipment. This is a continuation of the program to replace old lamps.
In addition, the institution will oversee the development of the capital’s architectural and decorative lighting system. Its authorities will include designing and implementing lighting projects for buildings, monuments, and other important architectural sites, ensuring the city's nighttime aesthetic appeal.
Furthermore, responsibility has been assigned for festive lighting of Tashkent city during national holidays and major events. To finance these extensive plans, targeted funds from the local budget are planned to be allocated in 2025.
Additionally, a regular annual financing mechanism has been introduced to achieve these objectives.
Tashkent streets will become brighter and more modern
