Belgium will open an embassy in Tashkent to expand cooperation with Central Asia, the country's Foreign Minister Maxim Prevo reported.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Belgium considers Central Asia as a strategically important region and sees strengthening its presence in the region within the framework of national interests.
"The network of diplomatic missions is a decisive factor in Belgium's cooperation and protection of its interests in the international arena. In modern geopolitical conditions, this network must become more active and effective," Prevo said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom emphasized that new logistics routes connecting Europe and Asia through the Trans-Caspian corridor are being formed with the participation of Uzbekistan. Belgium considers timely and active participation in this process a strategic investment.
According to experts, the opening of the embassy will allow Belgium to closely monitor the political and economic processes in the region, early identify opportunities for cooperation, and assess risks.
This decision is expected to take relations between Uzbekistan and European countries to a new level.
