The President of Uzbekistan has set the goal of strengthening social protection for needy families. As the President noted, from now on, persons with disabilities and those with limited earning capacity will not be included in the poor register; their support will be fully the responsibility of the state.
From the new year, the “Equal Opportunity – Inclusive Employment” project will be implemented, aimed at providing jobs for 40,000 persons with disabilities. Through the Employment Fund, they will be given interest-free loans of up to 30 million soms.
Additionally, families at risk of falling back into poverty will retain social assistance and benefits. For 6 months, they will receive financial support and child allowances, expenses for kindergartens and clubs will be covered, and they will have the opportunity to use 110 social services and assistance for 12 months.
Measures have also been established to identify families at high risk of poverty due to difficult life circumstances in advance and provide them with targeted support. Oversight of these tasks is assigned to Shahnoza Mirziyeva, First Deputy Director of the National Agency for Social Protection.
