Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with a delegation of European Commissioners

On November 27, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of the European Union headed by the Commissioner for International Cooperation, Josef Sikela, and the Commissioner for Enhancement, Marta Kos, who are in Uzbekistan on a working visit.

Issues of developing trade, economic, and investment cooperation through the implementation of the agreements reached during the high-level visit to Brussels in October of this year were discussed.

The dynamic development of Uzbek-European relations and the formation of a new comprehensive agenda for bilateral and multilateral cooperation were noted with satisfaction.

This year, the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA) was signed with the European Union, summits were held in Samarkand and Brussels, and negotiations with the European Union on Uzbekistan's accession to the WTO were completed.

Since the beginning of the year, trade turnover has grown by almost 7 percent. It was emphasized that the implementation of the SBU will contribute to a significant increase in trade volumes and investment flows.

The need for further improvement of institutional cooperation mechanisms, development of new joint investment projects in the spheres of industrial cooperation, transport, digitalization, important minerals, energy, healthcare, and other priority areas for the expansion and diversification of trade was noted.

An exchange of views also took place on topical issues of the international and regional agenda.
