On December 26, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in his address to the Oliy Majlis and the people of Uzbekistan, declared 2026 as the “Year of Mahalla Development and Social Advancement.” This decision aims to strengthen mahalla activities, encourage citizens’ active participation in social life, and reinforce peace and harmony in the country.
The President emphasized that the mahalla system is a strong foundation of our society. “If the mahallas are calm and united, our society will be peaceful and harmonious. Developing mahallas will lead to the prosperity of the entire country,” said the head of state. Therefore, mahalla institutions play a key role in strengthening social stability, promoting compassion, and ensuring justice.
A special state program will be adopted for the new year. Within this program, the activities of more than 9,000 mahallas in Uzbekistan will be developed, turning them into centers of compassion, unity, and education.
The President also called on all government bodies, mahalla leaders, elders, youth, entrepreneurs, and citizens to work together to achieve the set goals. Activities and projects implemented during the year will be regularly reported on official information websites.
