According to forecasters, Uzbekistan will see mostly dry weather during the first ten days of January, with light frost at night. However, a real cold snap may arrive by mid-month, and the cold is expected to intensify further toward the end of January. This was reported by podrobno.uz.reports.
The beginning of the month will be relatively warm, but in the second and especially the third ten-day period temperatures may drop sharply, with frequent nighttime frosts possible.
Dry weather is forecast across the country on January 1–2. On January 3, moist air will move in from the Caspian, bringing rain to many areas; in some places precipitation may turn into rain mixed with snow and then into snow. In central and southeastern regions, precipitation may continue overnight and into the morning of January 4.
After that, precipitation is unlikely across the country until the end of the first ten-day period. During this time, nighttime temperatures will mostly be around -2…+3°C, dropping to -5°C in some areas. Daytime temperatures will range from +8…+13°C down to +0…+5°C.
In the second ten-day period, sharp temperature swings are expected: at night from +1…+6°C to -1…-6°C, and during the day from +10…+15°C down to -2…+3°C. In the north, nighttime temperatures may fall from around -3…+2°C to -5…-10°C, and in some areas to -13…-15°C, while daytime temperatures may drop from +2…+7°C to -3…-8°C.
In the third ten-day period of January, the risk of a cold wave will remain: nighttime temperatures may drop to -7…-12°C, in some places to -15…-17°C, and daytime temperatures to -3…-8°C. In northern areas, nights are expected to be -15…-20°C, locally -22…-25°C, with daytime temperatures of -5…-10°C and around -13…-15°C in some locations.
Earlier, the likelihood of snowfall on New Year’s Eve was also mentioned, along with region-by-region weather details for the first three days of January.
