Official statement issued regarding oil spill in Baysun

In the territory of the "M-25" field, located in the Baysun district of Surkhandarya region, in the last days of 2025, a case of the emergence of an oil-containing liquid to the surface was revealed. Responsible agencies immediately began to take measures in connection with this situation.
On January 5, the Ministry of Energy released official information about this incident and announced that additional protective reservoirs were created around the field and along the riverbed to prevent the spread of oil fluid over a wide area. These measures are aimed at keeping oil fluid under control.
The Ministry noted that the collected oil liquid is continuously transported to a specially designated area. There are two fully insulated sludge pools, each with a capacity of 5 thousand cubic meters. These facilities allow for the safe storage of petroleum fluid and its subsequent processing or efficient use.
It was also noted that all work is being carried out in strict compliance with current industrial safety and environmental requirements. Laboratory analyses are being conducted based on samples taken from the petroleum fluid. Based on the results of the analysis, the possibilities of its processing will be assessed, and geological research is still ongoing.
Currently, the situation is under constant monitoring, and the spread of oil fluid has been restrained. In the first days, work is being consistently carried out to clean the oil discharged into the canal. Experts report that the situation is under full control.
