Belgium’s new ambassador begins work in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met with Belgium’s new ambassador, Erik De Maeyer. The minister received copies of the diplomat’s credentials, marking the start of his official duties in the country. This was reported by podrobno.uz reports .

During the talks held on January 12, the sides discussed current issues on the bilateral agenda. They also emphasized the importance of developing trade, investment and business cooperation, and expanding practical economic partnership.

At the end of the meeting, Saidov wished the ambassador success in his diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan. It is worth recalling that the opening of Belgium’s embassy in Tashkent was announced in autumn 2025; previously, the post was held by Anri Vantigem.
