A period of large-scale reforms and transformations in the road sector of Uzbekistan

Large-scale work is being carried out throughout the republic to adapt highways to modern requirements and improve the quality of infrastructure. According to Nilufar Jumayeva, press secretary of the Committee for Roads, the total length of roads in our country today is 184,596 kilometers. Of these, 42,371 kilometers are public roads, and 142,225 kilometers are internal streets of cities and villages.

2025 outlook: Billions of investments and thousands of kilometers of roads

The past year, 2025, has become a real year of construction and development for the industry. Work worth 15 trillion 758 billion soums was carried out at 4,318 facilities.

  • Result: 21,553 kilometers of road network and 320 bridge structures were thoroughly repaired and put into use.
  • Innovation: The outdated "resource method" has been abandoned, and the "volume method," which meets international standards and is focused on quality and specific volume, has been adopted.
  • Investments: With the support of international financial institutions, $ 300.3 million was disbursed, and more than 213 kilometers of modern roads were built.

Strategic facilities and amenities for the population

Road structures with unique and complex engineering solutions have been commissioned in various regions of the country.

  • Revolution in Khiva: The first 550-meter underground highway was built in the center of the ancient city.
  • A new route in Jizzakh: A 4-kilometer road connecting Islam Karimov Street with the M-39 highway and a 700-meter overpass have been built in the Sharaf Rashidov district.
  • Renovations in the capital: roads from Makhtumkuli Street to the New Uzbekistan Park have been renovated, and 21 km of special sports paths have been built around the Olympic Village.

Control and Security: Modern Technology Supply

In order to ensure the longevity of roads, the system of weight control of trucks is being strengthened. 86 high-tech measuring and control points are being installed throughout the republic. To date, entrepreneurs have been identified through auctions at 41 points and have already begun work.

Fast construction: new tunnel in 48 hours

The skills of specialists in the field were clearly demonstrated in the project in the Bostanlyk district. The underground pedestrian tunnel on the Tashkent - Bostanlyk route was completed in a recordly short time - in just 48 hours.

In addition, 42 regulatory documents and standards related to the industry have been revised based on advanced foreign experience, which will serve to raise the quality of road construction to a new level.
