Big growth and new city to be built in Jizzakh for 2026-2027

A new presidential decree aimed at developing the Jizzakh region has been adopted in Uzbekistan. The document is titled "On Additional Measures to Accelerate the Socio-Economic Development of Jizzakh Region in 2026-2027" and outlines specific figures, targeted plans, and major construction projects for the region's next two years.
According to the decree, the main goal is to maintain stable growth at a high level in the Jizzakh region. In particular, it is expected that the volume of gross regional product will grow by an average of 8.5 percent annually, industrial production - by 7.8 percent, market services - by 13.2 percent, and agricultural production - by 4.6 percent. That is, it's not just about the slogan "we will develop" - it's about numbers, pace, and results.
One of the most interesting points is the plan to reduce the unemployment rate to 3 percent and the poverty rate to 2.8 percent in 2026 alone. In addition, the task was set to turn the city of Jizzakh, Sharaf-Rashidov district, Bakhmal district, Gallyaaral district, Dustlik district, Zaamin district, and Zafarabad district into areas free from poverty and unemployment. This is a big claim, but if it is properly organized, it is a claim that will change a person's life.
The "renewal mode" will also be launched in agriculture: it is planned to renew 5,000 hectares of old orchards and vineyards in 57 mahallas specializing in horticulture in Bakhmal, Gallyaaral, Zaamin, Farish districts and other regions. This means increasing income from land, seasonal jobs, export potential, and most importantly, the opportunity to break the mindset that "money is only in the city" in rural areas.
From the entrepreneurial side, there is a plan to systematize the work: 5 entrepreneurship centers will be created in Sharaf-Rashidov district, Dustlik district, Gallyaaral district, Arnasay district, and Zafarabad district, covering 40 mahallas. That is, if someone wants to start a business, the questions "where will I go, who will I tell?" should be reduced.
One of the largest projects relates to urban development: the city of New Jizzakh is planned to be located on 40 hectares of vacant land between the city of Jizzakh and the Sharaf-Rashidov district. It is planned to build 50 multi-story buildings with 1,200 apartments. This means a new economic "point of action" around the infrastructure, new jobs, the service market, and the regional center as a whole.
In conclusion, this decision is not a "simple plan" for Jizzakh region - it is truly a big map aimed at increasing speed. Now, the main thing is that the figures don't just stick on paper: a person who found a job in their neighborhood, a farmer earning income from their renovated garden, a family moving into a new house - this result will truly transform Jizzakh's 2026-2027 years.
