Uzbekistan continues to expand its international partnership ties. On April 22, 2026, in New York City, Uzbekistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ulugbek Lapasov, and the Head of the Guinea-Bissau Mission, Samba Sane, signed a joint communique on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. During the formal ceremony, the parties confirmed their readiness to develop mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of the United Nations and its specialized agencies. Agreements were also reached on activating bilateral dialogue and identifying promising areas for cooperation.

The Republic of Guinea-Bissau has become the 168th country with which Uzbekistan has established official diplomatic relations. This step signifies the consistent strengthening of the country's foreign policy ties.
