President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the new cultural and service facilities within the "Burhoniddin Marg'inoniy" scientific-enlightenment and tourism complex established in the city of Margilan. This project is noteworthy not only for its architectural design but also for its spiritual and economic significance.
It was noted that the complex, which harmonizes national architectural traditions, the rich history of Margilan, and modern tourism requirements, has become a veritable "city within a city." Spanning 35 hectares, the complex provides all necessary conditions for tourists: hotels, caravanserais, commercial and service buildings, handicraft centers, national markets, and museums have been completed.
One of the priority directions of the complex is the study and promotion of the scientific heritage of the great scholar Burhoniddin Marg'inoniy. At the same time, special attention is being paid to preserving ancient handicraft traditions and developing pilgrimage and cultural tourism in the area.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the project is the "House of Otabek and Kumush" museum. Here, scenes from the famous novel "O'tkan kunlar" are brought to life on the walls, creating a unique atmosphere that blends literature and history. Additionally, a maqom theater, an alley of poets and artists, and a modern library are also part of the complex.
This large-scale project, valued at 1.7 trillion soums, is being implemented based on a master plan developed by the Turkish company "Studio Vertebra." The complex will be built in two stages. Future plans include the establishment of a business center, a mosque for 1,500 worshippers, new hotels, 400 commercial and service points, and a market with 300 seats.
The Head of State inspected the construction and landscaping work and familiarized himself with the handicraft and applied arts exhibitions and market stalls. He also engaged in dialogue with local residents and community representatives, listening to their opinions and suggestions.
According to experts, once the complex is fully operational, it is expected to attract 200–250 thousand foreign tourists to the Fergana Valley annually. This will allow for the creation of 2,000 new jobs, generate 52 billion soums in revenue for the state budget, and ensure $30 million in service exports.
Furthermore, this experience is planned to be implemented in other historical regions of the country. Specifically, similar projects are expected to be carried out at sites such as "Boqiy Buxoro" in Bukhara, the area around the Imam Moturidiy complex in Samarkand, the O'rda in Kokand, and the "Axsikent" monument in Namangan.
In short, this complex in Margilan is not just a simple construction project, but a strategic initiative that unites history, culture, and economy at a single point. The focus now turns to how effectively it will be "brought to life."
