Electricity tariffs to rise, bill for 500 kWh to change

Calculations regarding how monthly payments for the population will change due to the increase in electricity tariffs in Uzbekistan from June 1 have been announced. According to information provided by the Ministry of Energy, for households consuming 500 kWh per month, the difference in the bill will be 40,000 soums.
According to the new tariffs, the price of electricity for the population is calculated in stages based on consumption volume. For consumption up to 200 kWh, the current tariff is increased from 600 to 650 soums. That is, in the first stage, an additional payment of 50 soums per kWh will arise.
For the consumption portion between 201 kWh and 500 kWh, the tariff is raised from 800 to 900 soums. For electricity in this range, each kWh becomes 100 soums more expensive. Therefore, the difference in payment will be more significant for households with higher monthly consumption.
According to the Ministry's calculations, if a household consumes 500 kWh of electricity per month, the final payment under current tariffs is 360,000 soums. After the new tariffs come into effect, this amount will reach 400,000 soums. Thus, the monthly bill will increase by 40,000 soums.
The Ministry of Energy explains these changes as a process of gradual transition to market mechanisms. The Ministry emphasizes that the phased change in tariffs is aimed at increasing the burden on consumers' budgets in a relatively soft, rather than sharp, manner.
At the same time, the new tariffs also encourage the population to use electricity sparingly. Especially in the summer season, the use of air conditioners, refrigerators, water heaters, and other household appliances may increase. At such times, monitoring every kWh becomes important for the family budget.
Experts recommend turning off unnecessary lights, using energy-saving lamps, not using household appliances unnecessarily, and maintaining air conditioner temperatures at a standard level to save electricity in households. Because after the tariff increase, even small savings will affect the bill at the end of the month.
In short, electricity tariffs will change from June 1. For households consuming 500 kWh, the monthly payment will increase from 360,000 to 400,000 soums. The difference is 40,000 soums. Now, checking the meter is no longer just a habit, but becomes a financial strategy.
