In Iran, a naked woman climbed on top of a police car (video)

A woman in Iran climbed onto a police car naked in a "protest against the dress code," Son Dakika reported.

The incident took place in Mashhad, Iran's second most populous city. Footage shows the woman climbing onto the hood of a patrol car, shouting at officers, and sitting in the windshield with her hands raised. Despite officers' attempts to get her off, she did not budge.

According to local media, the woman has already been arrested. There has been no official word on whether she will be charged.

This is not the first time a woman has protested topless in Iran. In 2024, a student at Tehran's Islamic Azad University took off her clothes and walked around the university grounds after being harassed for not wearing a headscarf. She was then taken away by police.

The Iranian student was sent to the Ahud Daryaei psychiatric hospital for compulsory treatment. According to independent sources, the student had no previous mental health problems. However, the girl is reportedly being treated with powerful drugs.

In Iran, women are required to cover their hair with a headscarf and wear loose clothing. Since April, the number of Basij officers on the streets of Iran to monitor the correct wearing of the hijab has increased significantly. Universities are using facial recognition technology to prevent female students who do not meet the rules from entering classes.

The Iranian parliament is currently considering a law to tighten the rules on wearing the hijab. A single violation will result in a fine of about $50, and repeated violations will result in a fine of up to $400. The average salary in Iran is $200-250.
