Millions of chickens are being culled in America due to bird flu, which has led to a shortage of eggs and a rise in prices. According to NBC, after prices rose sharply, some consumers are solving the problem by renting chickens.

Jenn Tompkins, co-founder of Rent the Chicken Homestead, said:
"We deliver two or four chickens with a cage to customers' yards. Two chickens can lay up to ten eggs a week, and four can lay up to twenty."

According to Tompkins, people are using this service not primarily to save money, but to feel more secure.
