Russian President Vladimir Putin said that there is a possibility of cooperation with the United States in the field of rare earth metals mining and aluminum production. According to him, there are plans to build a hydroelectric power plant and establish aluminum production plants in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
"We can think about cooperation with American companies in this direction. For example, in the Soviet era in the Krasnoyarsk Territory there were plans to build a new hydroelectric power plant and establish additional aluminum production plants," Putin said.
He noted that this project could have "investment potential."
"According to preliminary estimates, it could be valued at about $15 billion at today's prices. But we need to think about it," the Russian leader said.
Speaking about rare earth metals in Russia, Putin said that the country is not doing enough to develop them.
"Rare earth metals are a very important component for modern economic sectors, very important resources. We are doing little in this direction," Putin said.
