The United States is not yet ready to provide security guarantees to Ukraine. These guarantees are being considered as part of a possible peace agreement with Russia, said Mike Volsh, the US President's national security adviser.

America cannot provide unlimited aid to Ukraine

According to Volsh, America can no longer "continue to allocate billions to Ukraine indefinitely." At the same time, he said that it is too early to talk about the security guarantees demanded by Kiev. For the United States, it is important to end the war, and for this both sides must be ready to make compromises.

"This war must end, and for this it is necessary to make territorial concessions. "This requires Russia to make concessions on security guarantees. We don't have any concrete information from the Ukrainians, but this is certainly an issue that has been discussed in previous talks," Volsh said.

Is Zelensky ready for peace talks?

There are also mixed opinions in Washington about Volodymyr Zelensky's attitude to the peace process. Volsh stressed that the United States needs a leader who can stand up to the Russians and end the war.

"Churchill was removed from office in 1945. He was a great man, but he couldn't take England to the next level. Whether President Zelensky can lead Ukraine to end this war, especially after the events we've seen, is still unclear," he said.

Responding to a question from reporters, "Does Trump want Zelensky to resign?" Volsh stressed that the United States needs a leader who can make a deal and end the conflict.

Strategic prospects of the war in Ukraine

Meanwhile, in the United States, presidential candidate Donald Trump is said to be trying to implement a peace plan similar to the "Minsk Agreements". He is a supporter of an immediate end to the war and the start of long-term negotiations. However, analysts say that this plan may fail.

In this context, Great Britain and France have begun to develop their own peace plan together with Ukraine. This plan is expected to be presented to the United States later.

Why are security guarantees important for Ukraine?

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that for the United States and Western countries, a ceasefire is tantamount to ending the war, but for Ukraine, such measures are not enough.

"We must have security guarantees. If they are not there, the possibility of a repeated Russian attack will always remain," Zelensky said.

In his opinion, a peace agreement should provide Ukraine with long-term guarantees of security. Currently, there is no clear agreement on this matter and negotiations are ongoing.
