Peskov: The Zelensky-Trump meeting showed how difficult it is to reach an agreement in Ukraine
The meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington has caused a lot of discussion in the international arena. Commenting on the meeting, Russian President Vladimir Zelensky's press secretary Dmitry Peskov noted that it once again exposed the problems on the way to achieving peace in Ukraine.

Peskov: The path to agreement is difficult

According to Peskov, the scandal that broke out in the White House showed that there are serious difficulties on the way to reaching an agreement in Ukraine.

"The incident that happened on Friday at the White House, of course, showed how difficult it will be to reach an agreement on the issue of Ukraine," Peskov said.

Zelensky-Trump dispute and Kiev's security guarantees

During the meeting, Zelensky demanded security guarantees for Ukraine from the United States, which led to a heated argument with Trump.

Peskov, explaining the situation, stressed that Moscow is open to negotiations, but Kiev is not ready to accept such an opportunity yet.

"Zelensky's words at the White House confirmed Putin's opinion that Moscow's readiness for an agreement is limited by Kiev's will," the Russian press secretary said.

"Zelensky failed to demonstrate diplomatic skills"

Peskov was skeptical of Zelensky's diplomatic experience, saying that his position in the negotiations makes it difficult to achieve peace.

"Zelensky has shown a complete lack of diplomatic skills in many respects," he said.

He also believes that Zelensky's unwillingness to cede Ukrainian territories is due to his unwillingness to recognize the real situation.

"Zelensky does not want peace - someone must force him"

According to Peskov, the Ukrainian government does not want to achieve peace, and Western countries must force Zelensky to this path.

"It is very important that someone forces Zelensky to change his position. He does not want peace, someone must force Zelensky to peace. If the Europeans manage to do this - respect and praise to them," he said.

The issue of the West and aid to Ukraine

Peskov also noted that Western countries continue to provide assistance to Ukraine. He noted that some countries still consider it necessary to support Kiev, but in the general environment there are doubts about the long-term continuation of this assistance.

Peskov also spoke about negotiations with the United States and Russia's special military operation, but noted that no concrete changes are expected in these processes yet.

The meeting between Zelensky and Trump in Washington showed that serious disagreements remain over the resolution of the situation in Ukraine. According to Peskov, Kiev is not ready for peace talks and external forces will be required to bring about such a process.

At present, the position of Western countries in providing assistance to Ukraine remains stable, but there are still no clear prospects for further negotiations.
