Bill Gates: "Artificial intelligence Will Replace Doctors and Teachers"
Microsoft founder and American billionaire Bill Gates believes that artificial intelligence (AI) will eventually replace many professions — including doctors and teachers.

“AI will bring IQ to medicine, and there will be no more shortage of staff,” Gates stated.

He pointed out the shortage of medical personnel in India, Africa, and the United States. According to the Association of American Medical Colleges, by 2036 the U.S. could face a shortage of 86,000 physicians.

The education sector faces similar issues. 86% of public schools in the U.S. reported difficulties hiring teachers for the 2023–2024 academic year, with 45% citing serious staff shortages.

In the UK, London’s David Game College ran an experiment using ChatGPT in education. Over the course of a year, 20 students used the AI tool for English, math, biology, and computer science. Despite early concerns about cheating, teachers later acknowledged that AI helped save time and could improve learning.

Gates emphasized that AI will impact more than just doctors and teachers — factory workers, construction crews, and hotel staff will also be affected:

“You need really good hands for this kind of work — and we’ll get there,” he said.

According to Gates, jobs will either be reduced or change their nature in the future. People may retire earlier or work shorter weeks.

“This becomes a philosophical question: what comes next?” he added.

For context: in 1930, economist John Maynard Keynes predicted a 15-hour work week. Yet 100 years later, most people still work 40 hours per week.
