On April 17, 2025, a shooting occurred at Florida State University (FSU) in Florida. Two people were killed and at least six others were injured.
According to police, the suspect is 20-year-old Phoenix Ikner, a university student and the son of a local sheriff. He used a former service weapon that belonged to his mother during the shooting.
The incident occurred in front of the university's student union building during lunch. Students sought refuge in the building's bowling alley and freight elevator.
Phoenix Ikner was shot and killed for disobeying police orders and is currently in the hospital. All of the injured are being treated at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
President Donald Trump responded to the incident, saying it was "a terrible situation" but that he had no plans to enact new gun laws. He said, "It's not the gun, it's the person who shoots."
The university canceled classes and all events for the rest of the week after the incident. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
