White House: COVID-19 was man-made and came from a Wuhan laboratory

On Friday, April 18, a new page about the COVID-19 pandemic appeared on the White House website. It presented evidence that the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus was not created naturally, but was created by humans and leaked from a laboratory in Wuhan, China.

The document noted that the virus “possesses biological properties that do not exist in nature.” It also noted that this virus is different from previous pandemics, since it is enough to be exposed to COVID-19 once, not multiple times.

According to the White House, the Wuhan Institute of Virology is the leading center for studying SARS viruses in China. This laboratory conducted special experiments to edit the virus genome and change its properties. According to US officials, some employees at the institute developed symptoms similar to COVID-19 as early as the fall of 2019, long before the virus was released into the market.

“If SARS-CoV-2 had originated naturally, this would have been reported by now. But it has not,” the White House website says.

At the same time, the White House also sharply criticized the World Health Organization (WHO) for bowing to pressure from the Chinese Communist Party and neglecting its international obligations. The website also accuses former US President's medical adviser Anthony Fauci of trying to discredit the theory that the virus originated in a laboratory.
