Trump: Ukraine started the war by seeking NATO
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Ukraine's aspiration to join NATO caused the conflict with Russia. He made these remarks in an interview with Time magazine, marking his first 100 days as head of the White House.

In the conversation, Trump emphasized that Ukraine has no possibility of joining NATO, and discussions about this topic triggered the war.

"There is no possibility for Ukraine to join NATO. The war started precisely because Ukraine began to express a desire to join the alliance," said the American leader during the interview.

He believes that if the topic of Ukraine's NATO membership had not been raised, perhaps the current conflict would never have occurred.

"If this issue had not been brought up, the likelihood that the conflict would not have started at all would be much higher," Trump added.

Furthermore, the U.S. President noted that even after a peaceful resolution of the conflict, Crimea would remain part of Russia.

"We have to talk about Crimea because this issue is always raised. Crimea will remain with Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and others understand this very well because Crimea has long been part of Russia," he said.

Trump also emphasized that only he is capable of peacefully resolving the Ukrainian conflict.

"We had very good negotiations and are close to an agreement. I believe no one else can make this deal except me," Trump stated.

In the interview, he expressed confidence that the possibility of a peace agreement belongs exclusively to him.

"I think that only I can ensure peace through negotiations. I don't believe anyone else can accomplish this agreement," Donald Trump emphasized.
