The Ukrainian Foreign Minister: "If you want peace, stop it now, not tied to symbolic dates!"
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga, commenting on the unilateral ceasefire announced by Russia on May 9 - Victory Day, urged the Kremlin not to tie the issue of establishing peace to specific dates or events.

"If Russia is truly committed to peace, it should cease fire now. Why wait until May 8? If it is possible to start a 30-day ceasefire now, it should be real and long-term, not just for a parade. Ukraine fully supports a stable, reliable and complete ceasefire. We have been making this proposal regularly - this period should be at least 30 days," the minister said on his social media page.

Recall that on April 28, the Kremlin announced a unilateral ceasefire regime on May 9, the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, for "humanitarian reasons." This regime should be in effect from midnight on May 8 to the night of May 11. Moscow also called on Kiev to do the same and stop all military operations.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin also declared a ceasefire for the period from April 19 to April 21 in connection with the Easter holiday. However, soon after, Ukraine and Russia repeatedly accused each other of not adhering to this ceasefire.

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister called on Russia to take concrete and real steps on the issue of peace, and once again emphasized that such initiatives should not be limited to dates.
