Former NATO Secretary-General: World democracies must unite against Trump in the D7 club!
A serious challenge on the political arena! According to former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, liberal democracies need to establish a club called "D7" — "Seven Democracies" — to counter the authoritarian tendencies of U.S. President Donald Trump. He made this statement in an interview with Innews.

"D7 — Shield of the Free World"
According to Rasmussen's proposal, the following countries could join this new club:
- United Kingdom
- European Union
- Canada
- Australia
- Japan
- South Korea
- New Zealand

These countries not only have democratic values but also possess strong economic potential. Rasmussen emphasized that their combined economic share constitutes between 30–40% of the global economy. "This is a huge force of influence," he says.

"Our Response is in Solidarity"
According to Rasmussen, if economic pressure—such as tariffs—is exerted against any of these countries, it should be regarded as a threat against the entire D7 group.

"If customs tariffs, economic sanctions, or economic intimidation are imposed by China or even the United States, we all must respond together. This is the only correct way," said the former NATO leader.

Direct Objection to Trump
Anders Fogh Rasmussen sharply criticized U.S. President Trump, characterizing him as "a leader demonstrating autocratic tendencies." In his view, Trump takes a skeptical approach to global trade relations and is initiating "trade wars" against the entire world.

"Nationalistic, egoistic policies under the slogan 'America First!' are Trump's primary weapon. But the world must find a suitable response to such approaches. A serious platform is needed to limit the disrespectful attitude of the U.S. towards its allies. D7 is precisely this solution," said Rasmussen.

NATO is also divided in opinions
It should be recalled that earlier, Anders Fogh Rasmussen had appealed to European countries, stating that it was time to move towards "independent strategic visions and actions, without waiting for the previous level of trust in relations with the U.S."

At the same time, he criticized Trump’s skeptical attitude toward the European Union, labeling Trump's statements that "the EU often becomes an even worse trade rival for the U.S. than China" as "offensive."
