Russia has intensified the offensive in Zaporizhia, Ukraine is putting up resistance

Military operations are intensifying again in the south and east of Ukraine. It was reported that the Russian army has launched active offensive operations in the Zaporizhia direction. According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, the enemy has significantly intensified its operations on this front.

— Although the defense forces are inflicting heavy losses on the enemy, Russia is concentrating its main forces in the Pokrovsky, Toretsky, Limansky and Novopavlovsky directions. In addition, forces are being concentrated on the border in the Sumy region. Attacks in the Zaporizhia direction have noticeably intensified, — said General Syrsky at a meeting dedicated to May.

Strike strikes behind the front: DeepStrike activity

According to the Commander-in-Chief, the Ukrainian army is carrying out serious operations not only on the front, but also in the enemy's rear areas. In May, 58 Russian military facilities were targeted with precise strikes using DeepStrike technology. Among them were explosives, drone production facilities and military industrial facilities. These attacks had a significant impact on Russia's defense capabilities.

Kursk and Sumy: a new level of threats

Syrsky noted that operations in the Kursk direction are still ongoing. Actions in this area are aimed at reducing strategic pressure from Ukraine and limiting Russia's range of action.

At the same time, the Russian army is intensifying the escalation on the front, concentrating forces in the eastern and northern regions of Ukraine by the summer of 2025. It is noted that the attacks carried out by the Kremlin are aimed at increasing strategic pressure on the Kiev government and Western countries.

Zelensky: Moscow's plan has not changed

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also made a statement about Russia's plans. According to him, Russia has not given up on its intention to distract Ukrainian forces through its active actions in the Sumy direction and continue its offensive in the east and south.

The active attacks in Zaporizhia, the actions in Sumy and Kursk, and Russia's general strategic plans indicate that the war in Ukraine is entering a new, more intense phase.
