The Lenin statue in Osh has been removed: what will be installed in its place now?
The statue of Vladimir Lenin, which has stood in the southern capital of Kyrgyzstan, Osh, for more than half a century, has been dismantled by the city authorities. This event is causing heated discussions among local residents and social networks.

According to local publications, including the 24.kg website, the Lenin statue, which is considered one of the tallest monuments in the center of Osh, has already been brought down to the ground. Now the statue will not be located in the main square of the city, but in the "Meerim" recreation park.

Officials of the Osh city administration tried to explain the reason for this decision. According to them, the location of the Lenin statue should now be used for other purposes and such changes should not be politicized or overly interpreted. According to the authorities, a special device - a flagpole - will be installed on the site where the statue stands to ceremonially raise the state flag.

It is worth noting that the removed Lenin statue was one of the largest and tallest monuments not only in Kyrgyzstan, but also in the entire territory of Central Asia. It was installed in 1975, and its total weight was almost 7.5 tons. For many years, Osh residents and visitors to the city have considered this monument one of the main symbols of the city.

The news of the removal of the statue has caused active discussions on social networks. While some users perceive this as a rejection of historical memory, others welcome this decision as a step that meets modern requirements and strengthens state symbols.

The city authorities also announced that they held consultations with various segments of the public in implementing this decision. In their opinion, a modern national flagpole would be more important for the future development of the city.

Currently, construction work has begun on the site where the statue was removed. Although the exact height of the flagpole and other technical details have not yet been officially announced, the city administration says that its grand opening ceremony will be held soon.

Thus, it is clear that historical changes are taking place in the central square of Osh. These changes are being carried out in order to modernize the city's appearance and bring it closer to national values. However, at the same time, the relocation of the Lenin statue has become a significant event that has sparked new discussions about historical memory and the past.
