
On July 22, an important event took place on the international political stage — a delegation led by the Chairman of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan, Colonel-General Bahodir Qurbanov, held a meeting in Kabul with the Acting Minister of National Defense of the “Taliban,” Mullah Muhammad Yaqoob.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman of the SSS Farrukh Mukhtarov, Commander of the Border Troops Salimjon Khasanov, and a number of other officials. The sides thoroughly discussed the security environment in Afghanistan, regional stability, and economic development issues. The Uzbek delegation emphasized that our country welcomes the peace-building and economic progress processes in Afghanistan and underlined the importance of further strengthening bilateral relations.
Mullah Muhammad Yaqoob, in turn, especially noted Uzbekistan’s fair and positive stance towards Afghanistan on the international stage. He pointed out that cooperation between the two countries in the fields of border, security, trade, and logistics has significantly intensified.

At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged views on further expanding border cooperation, ensuring regional security, and implementing mutually beneficial projects. According to experts, such diplomatic dialogues indicate that Uzbekistan–Afghanistan relations are reaching a new level and mark another step towards regional stability.
