The consequences of the powerful and terrible earthquake that occurred in Afghanistan on the night of September 1 have now reached 850 victims. At the same time, according to the registered data, more than 3,000 people received bodily injuries of varying degrees and were taken to hospitals.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Afghanistan made an official statement about this. According to the report, the earthquake occurred at 00:17 local time. Its magnitude was 6.0, and its epicenter was located at a depth of 10 kilometers from the Earth's surface. The largest damage and destruction was observed in the eastern regions of the country bordering Pakistan - the cities of Kunar and Nangarhar.
According to Zabihullah Mujahid, a representative of the Afghan government, the victims were mainly local residents of these two provinces. According to him, these people often lost their homes and suffered great losses in their lives.
In a statement to Reuters, the press secretary of the Ministry of Health, Sharafat Zaman, said: "Many people have lost their lives and homes here. We are in dire need of international partners and aid organizations."
