Italian chef stranded at sea for 6 months
Italian Giulia Baccosi received an unexpected job offer on New Year's Eve 2019. She agreed to work as a cook on a cargo ship. The trip was originally planned to last three months.

After setting sail, the crew faced difficulties in the Caribbean and Atlantic Ocean. Giulia rescued people stranded at sea, fed them, and helped them. At the same time, Covid-19 spread, making many ports inaccessible.

When food and fuel supplies ran low, Giulia and the crew found creative solutions. They watched dolphins, enjoyed nature, and helped each other to cope with the challenges.

After 188 days at sea, the Avontur ship reached Germany. The crew unloaded the cargo and finally set foot on land. Giulia felt changed and thought about how to use her new experiences in life.
